My philosophy with food is grounded in the fact that we are all unique individuals with different bodies, minds, and needs, therefore the way we eat and approach our food is unique too.
I believe that there is not one specific way of eating that is the “right way to eat” that will work for everybody and every body. The way we feed our bodies and ourselves is very personal and should be part of our journey of self-discovery towards health. To me, thinking that there is only one true way of eating to achieve health is a fallacy that can bring judgment upon self and comparison with others, neither of which are healthy or productive.
I embrace the philosophy that food is medicine, and that good nutrition is the best long-term investment one can make for one’s own health. Our daily meals are shaping our body and mind, day after day, and it’s a beautiful thing that we need to be aware of.
I believe that how we eat and how we consume food is as important as what we eat, therefore it is also important to emphasize food enjoyment, variety, and sustainability.
Real whole foods, organic and preferably local, moderation, and common sense, have always been the ingredients of my personal diet. I have tried different diets and experiments with foods over the years, and at this point in my life, I am leaning towards intuitive eating. I have embraced the fact that my diet is not fixed and that it will change and evolve constantly depending on my body’s needs. Our body, or as we may want to call it “inner wisdom, knows what it needs. All we have to do, is to learn to listen to it more.
